Novice A.V. Spaniel Test. 7th of August 2010. Held at Badminton by kind permission of The Duke of Beaufort.

This test was run in mainly woodland and was a fair test of the 21 dogs' abilities of which were entered. It consisted of a hunt up under both Judges and also a seen and then a blind retrieve on both runs. The Handlers ranged from one or two experienced trialers down to handlers running in their first test.

The dogs' abilities were varied; some finding the test quite tough while others looking well schooled and doing their job well. There was a short run off to split the 2nd and 3rd dogs which were on identical marks, between two handlers fairly new to the sport; Helen Clarke and Ken Staples. But first place went to Lex Rayner with her ESS bitch Woodash Ignition.

A big thank you must go to our judges Ben Randall and Kevin Barraclough and all the helpers on the day, contributing to such a successful day. Thanks also to Andy Fisher and his connection with Squires & Beaumont who kindly donated the prizes.
